Mrs. MeadowsI would like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year!  At Leo, we have great community and staff that truly enjoys working with your students.  We received an “A” rating for 2018-2019 and will continue to work with you and your student to have a great junior high experience.  I would like to share a few highlights about how great it is to be a Leo Lion Junior High Student.  Academically, our students continue to strive for success.  In the 2018-2019 school year our 7th graders were tested on ILearn.  Of our seventh grade Language Arts students, 72.8% passed compared to the state average of 49.7%.  On the Math portion of ILearn, the 7th grade students were at 61.8% compared to the state average of 42%.  Leo 8th graders were at 70.7% on Language Arts compared to the state average of a 50.5% passing rate.   Leo 8th graders were 11% higher on Math ILearn than the state average.

Our junior high students have also had success in other areas.  Leo Junior High choir has been distinguished at the state level the past two years.  Our athletic teams have been quite successful in the Northeast 8 Conference.  We offer football, cheerleading, cross country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and track.  We also have several clubs that students can be involved in such as: book club, tennis club, golf club, student council, and the Life is Good Club.

Many students are involved in EDGE, our high ability club, that works with students to improve critical thinking skills and provides various opportunities for students.  A large portion of our junior high students pursue advanced courses in our building as well.

Leo Junior High has many opportunities for students to be involved.  I look forward to working along side you, as you, and your child, navigate through the junior high years in preparation for high school.
